'Can I ask you a favour?’

If this question fills you with dread, your time management may need serious work.

Throughout my work and personal life I make it a point to support those around me to the best of my ability. It’s only with time, that I learnt delegating is vital.

With my podcast No Stupid Answers, I’ve received a lot of messages asking for personal advice. Yes, it feels nice to be needed. Yes, it shows genuine interest in the content I put out. But am I qualified to respond? No.

Signposting and taking care of myself is the only way to continue.

Being my best at work, home and passion projects is a constant juggling act. I’m starting to believe there is no such thing as work/life balance. You will always be exerting yourself more when you are wholly invested.

Adam Grant, workplace psychologist suggests scheduling 'giving Mondays' where you intentionally support others, to give you that boost you need for the week. You then have stacked office hours where you don’t speak to another human.

Maybe this is something worth pursuing. Either way, take the step to acknowledge if your workflow is or is not working for you. Make a conscious effort to show up for yourself. And then consider answering requests.

Join me on Instagram, I go live every Friday with listeners, to reflect on topics you care about.
